This song's theme came to me after I was diagnosed with cancer and had to under go some pretty intense treatments. I was fantasizing about a "New Day" when I could be free of all my issues.
I play around with different chord changes and musical grooves that offer me an opportunity to jam out on the guitar. This groove does that and that's why I ended up with a fairly long solo in this song.
Some of my song themes are a little dark -- but this one is upbeat and positive. I do like to explore themes that are a little dark as they tend to lend themselves to bluesy music -- but it is also nice to find something fun and positive.
I always feel good in the morning. I am indeed ready for a new fun day. Most of my days are fun. At least I try to have a little fun everyday, playing guitar, eating good food, enjoying nature, spending time with my sweetheart.
